Board of Directors Meeting
November 2, 2005
Present: Bill Tomasini (presiding), Kerry Deal, Holly Furness, Ruben Garcia III, Pat Harris, David Kilburn, Conrad Mendoza, David Perez, Don Reynolds, Tracy Tabin, Gina Whitaker, Shannon Wyndsong, Mike Hughes (recording)

Call to order: 6:20 PM
1. Issue: Minutes – David P moved to accept the October minutes with corrections. Tracy seconded. Minutes approved unanimously.
2. Issue: Treasurer’s report – Kerry moved to accept the treasurer’s report as submitted. Don seconded. The treasurer’s report was approved unanimously.
3. Issue: Halloween Dance – Netted $1,875.
4. Issue: Farmer’s Market – David Kilburn moved that GALA sponsor a booth for 6 weeks ($164) to support education about Equality California and the marriage equality issue and to promote GALA membership. Holly 2nd. Motion carried unanimously.
5. Issue: Money remaining from Power Summit – Conrad moved that the remaining $800 from the Power Summit budget be set aside for future use in education about EQCA. Gina 2nd. Motion carried unanimously.
6. Issue: Money remaining from Youth Dance – Mike moved that the remaining $375 from the Youth Dance budget be used to purchase three memorial stones for the ASN Grove. Shannon 2nd. Motion carried unanimously.
7. Issue: Americor Volunteers – The board discussed the pros and cons of participating in the Americor Volunteer Project. The board was in general agreement to start a dialogue with Cal Poly.
8. Issue: Youth Group – Conrad reminded the board of the need to recruit a new facilitator for the Youth Group. Messages will go out in the newsletter and the email tree.
9. Issue: Holiday Party and Awards Banquet – Tickets are available online. The board was asked to solicit items for the auction.
10. Issue: GLBU Event at Tortilla Flats – The board agreed to provide $400 to GLBU to hold an event at Tortilla Flats for Trans Issues. The money is to be returned after the event.

1. Issue: Volunteer Awards Recipients – The board agreed to honor a selection of volunteers and benefactors at the Holiday Party and Awards Banquet. Conrad agreed to collate submissions of suggestions so members can vote to determine recipients. Members were asked to provide a brief bio for their candidates.

Call to order: 7:00 PM
1. Issue: Accomplishments of 2005 – Bill Tomasini reviewed the activities that GALA sponsored for the year and the accomplishments we have made as an organization. He introduced the 2005 board members and thanked them for their hard work. Bill explained the changes in the bylaws that effect election of board members and officers. Members are now elected for a two-year term. Officers are now elected by the board at the January meeting.
2. Issue: Financial Status – David Kilburn provided a summary of the finances of the organization and highlighted the growth we have undergone.
3. Issue: 2006 Board – The votes were tallied. Bill announced the names of those newly elected to the board and those directors who are continuing on the board for the second half of a two-year term:
