Board of Directors Meeting
October 4, 2005
Present: Bill Tomasini (presiding), Kerry Deal, Ruben Garcia III, Pat Harris, David Kilburn, David Perez, Don Reynolds, Tracy Tabin, Gina Whitaker, Mike Hughes (recording)

Call to order: 6:40 PM
1. Issue: Minutes – Ruben moved to accept the September minutes as written. Pat seconded. Minutes approved unanimously.
2. Issue: Treasurer’s report – Gina moved to accept the August treasurer’s report as submitted. Kerry seconded. The August treasurer’s report was approved unanimously.
Kerry moved to accept the September treasurer’s report as submitted. Don seconded. The August treasurer’s report was approved unanimously.
A preliminary profit and loss statement for the Waiters Dinner was presented showing net profit in the neighborhood of $15,000. The board thanked Pat & Stuart for an excellent event. Pat thanked a very hard-working committee.
3. Issue: Holiday Party & Banquet – Robert submitted a budget proposal for The Venetian Room at the Madonna Inn.

David K moved to accept the budget as written. Ruben 2nd. Motion carried unanimously.
Robert asked each board member to commit to providing one item for a silent auction.
4. Issue: Marriage Equality Power Summit – The purpose of the summit is to educate the legislature and the public regarding a proposed amendment to the California constitution that would ban gay marriage and undo domestic partnership laws. David K moved that GALA should support the summit in the amount of $1,000. Pat 2nd. Motion carried unanimously.
David K encouraged board members to attend.
5. Issue: Calendar of Events –
6. Issue: Youth Group – Bill reminded the board that the group needs new advisors.
7. Issue: 14th Annual ASN Walk for Life – David K announced that there will be a benefit to raise money at Cornerview on October 25th. Members will be bartending for tips.
Mike moved that GALA should support the Walk at the Patron level of $500. Ruben asked to amend the amount to $1000. Kerry 2nd. The motion carried unanimously with David K abstaining as an interested party.
8. Issue: Town Hall Meeting/Annual Meeting of the Members – Mike will prepare the ballots (David & David agreed to help). The meeting will begin at 7 PM. Coffee, wine, and cookies will be served.
The board will meet before the Town Hall for its November meeting at 6PM.
