Annual Meeting of the Members
November 18, 2004
Board Members Present: Robert Kinports (presiding), Ruben Garcia III, David Kilburn, Danny Lange, David Perez, Ruth Starr, Bill Tomasini, Shannon Wyndsong, Mike Hughes (recording)
Call to order: 7:00 PM
1. Issue: Accomplishments of 2004 – Robert reviewed the activities that GALA sponsored for the year and the accomplishments we have made as an organization. He introduced the 2004 board members and thanked them for their hard work. He announced that the Center Coordinator’s hours would be increased in 2005. Notably:
Center use is up
Grants have been earned
Membership is up
Newsletter circulation and ad revenue is up
We had a GLBT film in the SLO Film Festival
We have a booth at Farmer’s Market
We have done very well financially
2. Issue: 2005 Board – The votes were tallied. Robert announced the names of those elected to the board:

3. Issue: New President – In addition to continuing the current high level of activity of the organization, Danny discussed his vision for the coming year.
Renovation of the Center
More diversity of participation from the members
Increased volunteering
A Country/Western dance
4. Issue: Open floor – Conrad Mendoza and Eric Hubbs talked about the plans of “Q Youth Group” to put up an art installation that would provide counterpoint to the recent insulting anti-gay-marriage installation. There will be a planning meeting Saturday, November 20, at 1:30 PM in the Cal Poly U.U. in room 219. Members shared their ideas and input.
5. Issue: Support for art installation – The board met to consider a motion from David K to donate $500 to support the installation of an art piece that is educational for the public on the issue of gay marriage. David P 2nd. Motion carried unanimously.
